Santner struck twice in the space of four balls, dismissing both set batters and turning the game firmly in MI’s favor. He completed a brilliant spell, finishing with figures of 3/11 in 4 overs, putting Mumbai Indians on top as Delhi Capitals slumped to 105/7 after 15 overs, still needing 75 runs off the final 30 balls.
With the game approaching its conclusion, Jasprit Bumrah, who still had two overs left, cleaned up the tail with precision. Mumbai Indians wrapped up the innings by 18.2 overs, bowling Delhi Capitals out for 121 and winning the match by a commanding 59 runs.
The win earned Mumbai Indians the final playoff spot, taking them to 16 points with one match remaining. Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, were officially knocked out, bringing an end to their playoff hopes.
MI qualifies in style
It was a season of contrasting fortunes for both teams. Mumbai Indians, who had won just 2 of their first 7 matches, looked down and out early in the season. At that same point, Delhi Capitals had won 6 of their 7 matches and seemed strong contenders for the playoffs. But the tide turned drastically. DC managed to collect only 3 points in their last 6 matches, while MI surged with 6 wins in their last 7 games, clinching a playoff berth in dramatic fashion.
