The inaugural season of the IPL in 2008 was a revolution in its own way, showcasing a different side of Indian cricket filled with emotions. One big incident was the famous ‘Slapgate scandal’ involving a young Harbhajan Singh and Sreesanth. It became one of the major talking points of the tournament.

Viral Slapgate Video Sparks Outrage from Sreesanth’s Wife

Former IPL Chairman Lalit Modi was recently featured on a podcast alongside Michael Clarke, where the two discussed the infamous Slapgate moment. During the episode, Lalit Modi showed previously unseen footage of Harbhajan Singh slapping Sreesanth. The video went viral quickly, prompting Sreesanth’s wife, Bhuvaneshwari, to slam Lalit Modi, calling him heartless.

Both @sreesanthnair36 and Harbhajan have long moved on. They are fathers now with school-going children, and yet you try to throw them back into an old wound. Absolutely disgusting, heartless, and inhuman,”

Bhuvaneshwari strongly condemned the resurfacing of the 18-year-old video, calling it a cruel attempt to chase views at the cost of personal trauma. She expressed deep pain on behalf of their family, especially their children, who now face unnecessary shame and scrutiny.

“Sreesanth has rebuilt his life with dignity and grace after every hardship he faced. As his wife, and as the mother of his children, it is deeply painful for our family to see this resurface after 18 long years. Families are being forced to relive trauma that was buried decades ago—only so you can chase views.
This doesn’t just hurt the players; it scars their innocent children, who now have to face questions and shame for no fault of theirs,”
— she added.

A Man of Strength and Character – Bhuvaneshwari on Sreesanth

Defending Sreesanth’s dignity, she called him a man of strength and character. She also urged those responsible to reflect on the harm they’re causing.

“You should be sued for doing something so cheap and inhumane.
Sreesanth is a man of strength and character, and no video can take that dignity away from him.
Fear God before you hurt families and innocent children for your own gain,”
— she concluded.
